Engagement Session in Portugal Freita Mountains
Portugal besides being known for its history, good food, good wines, weather and so many other things. Portugal is also known for the beautiful mountains, such as SERRA DA ESTRELA, SERRA DE SINTRA, ARRÁBIDA, GERÊS and others. A little less well known to those who don’t live here (there isn’t a page about the mountain in English) is the SERRA DA FREITA. You have got to go there! We have to confess that we love to photograph sessions there, the light is beautiful, the possibilities of places are numerous and we always have the surprise factor that is: the weather can change suddenly.
We returned to Serra da Freita Portugal for an engagement session with Diana and Fred, they were getting married in Coimbra and had already hired their wedding photographer, but after discovered our work Diana's words were: “Over the months leading up to our wedding, there have been many questions about doing or not the engagement session. I started by thinking it would be good, because unlike me, Fred doesn't like to be photographed and isn't used to it. It would just serve as a warmup for the wedding. (…)
In an Instagram search, I discovered ARTE MAGNA, but I only give them proper attention when my maid of honor hired them for her wedding. (...)
It was then that, two weeks from our big day, I contacted Teresa and Dado. Mega relaxed and super available, they arranged us an afternoon to be able to make the session. With my head in pilot mode, I couldn't think of a place where it made sense for me to photograph. We trusted them and arranged to meet in the Serra da Freita on a beautiful and windy evening. The empathy was immediate. I don't know if it was because they are also a couple, but the good mood on both sides meant that we were already telling stories of our lives and laughing in the first five minutes.
They helped us get around that awkward feeling of “what am I doing here?”, which comes naturally when we have to expose ourselves to people we don't know. And most of all, they didn't make us feel awkward, nor did we have to act out something we aren't. We laughed at Fred's disjointed hugs, the fall of Dado, my camera-ready mode, their enthusiasm for every cloud, sunshine, and the visual effects that Teresa's feet had made.
Fred turned out to be a natural and fared much better than he expected. When the next day we received some pictures in teaser mode, we were delirious. When Sara (the maid of honor) saw the photos, she was no doubt about the choice of photographers for her wedding. And I was glad to see them again soon! My father was amazed to see each photo. Just said we had poster material here! Ahahahaah! I even wanted to offer them a session, who knows, when they get made a wedding anniversary. 🙂 ”
We think there's nothing more to say, right?

Even though a moment only lasts a short time, we can remember it in our minds forever.
